What’s causing my message to be broken into segments?

If your message appears in multiple parts, it may have exceeded the standard 160-character limit or contain Unicode characters. Unicode uses more data, reducing the SMS limit to 70 characters per segment

Messages longer than 160 characters are split into multiple parts. Each part reserves 7 characters for stitching, leaving 153 usable characters per segment.

For Instance :

  • 1 message = 160 characters
  • 2 messages = 306 characters (153 + 153)
  • 3 message = 459 characters (153 + 153 +153)

how to turn off Unicode messaging.

Important :

To prevent unintended Unicode characters, please type your message directly into the CXT input box rather than copying and pasting from Word or other sources.

Before sending, please review the message preview displayed on the right side of your screen.

This indicates whether your message has been divided into multiple segments.

Unicode characters are automatically flagged by the CXT message input field.
